About Priory Recording Studios
Set in the peaceful, rural location of Canwell, Sutton Coldfield Birmingham, the recording studio has been designed and built to extremely high, professional standards and equipped to compete as one of the most prestigious and versatile studios within the West Midlands.
Combined with highly motivated, experienced engineers, the recording studio philosophy is based on pride and total commitment to sonic excellence. We take a very professional approach to our work, but also keep the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable whilst getting the best performances out of our clients.
Built during 1997, the recording studio complex was acoustically designed by one of London’s best studio designers, Recording Architecture and purpose built to achieve a great sound. The Studio area consists of a control room, two recording rooms and a voice-over/vocal booth, all incorporating reinforced, “room within a room” soundproofing and floating floor designs. The aesthetics and ambience are both tasteful and relaxing. The Studio has also been acoustically analysed by Munro Associates to certify its accuracy.
Originally launched in the guise of Fatman Studios by Jonathan Woodroffe, the recording studio has grown from strength to strength over time. The name changed to Priory Recording Studios in 2002 as the studio became part of the Zytek group, following Jonathan Woodroffe’s departure.
April 2006 saw the birth of new opportunities and further investment when long-time studio manager/engineer Greg Chandler, took over the ownership of the business.
